Apartments now available to buy off plan!
You can now purchase an 80% equity stake of the open market value and Newport Housing Trust will fund the remaining 20%.
When will the apartments be built?
Construction will start on site for the Treberth development in Spring 2011 and is likely to last approximately 18 months, so handovers should begin late 2012.
Construction will begin at the Gaer approximately 12 months later than Treberth, therefore it will be around Spring 2012.
How will the complex as a whole fit into a single storey community?
Are there plans in the future to build or rent more bungalows or is it only going to be apartments?
How old must I be to join the Community Living Club?
The development is for over 60s, however you can join the club now as long as you will be 60 by the time the development is built and you're ready to move in.
What is the Community Living Club and why should I join?
Joining the Community Living Club (CLC) will enable you to play a part (if you choose), in helping to design and develop the home and community where you want to live. As with our previous developments, we are committed to promoting full and open consultation with prospective residents, giving you every opportunity to actively influence how the project progresses, to ensure, as best we can, that your needs and aspirations are met. Membership does not commit you to buy but gives you priority if you do decide to purchase.
I would rather rent than buy, when will apartments be available for rent?
As the apartments are being constructed using private finance, to make the scheme viable it will be necessary to sell all of the apartments in the first instance. There is likely to be only limited scope for renting initially but opportunities for renting may well increase over time.
We are rather concerned that the management and maintenance charges may be a little high?
We intend to ensure that service charges are kept to the absolute minimum as we know how important it is to keep day to day running costs as low as possible.
What if I am a new CLC member and have missed the earlier meetings?
New members who haven’t previously attended a meeting are welcome to meet a member of the Project Team half an hour before the start of meetings, for a talk to brief them on the scheme.
What if I can’t attend a meeting, how will I know what is going on?
CLC meetings will take place every three months and focus group meetings will also take place every three months – between the main club meetings. These dates will be advertised in the CLC newsletter, also sent out every three months.
Please can you let me know if there are any other schemes like this at the moment?
There are a number of private companies who sell and manage similar accommodation. Details of these can usually be found in the property pages of local newspapers or via the yellow pages.
