Planning permission for the Community Living Scheme in Treberth was refused earlier this year. However, on 12th August the plans were approved for the 58 self contained apartments to go-ahead.

 

Phil Toms, Chief Executive of Newport Housing Trust said The Trust worked hard with Council Officers to resolve the issues which lead to the plans being refused originally.

 

    "We believe that the scheme we be better, and we have come up with something that will add to the community considerably," he said. "We are very much looking forward to going ahead and being able to offer this very special accommodation to people over 60 who desperately need it."

We are pleased to say that things have now moved on with our planning submission for our Treberth Community Living Scheme. We have held positive meetings with both the planners and the Planning Contributions Manager who deals with the financial contribution required for formal play and leisure.

 

We have submitted a revised planning application in May which we are confident will be granted planning approval by the autumn. Details of the revised application will be presented at our next Community Living Club (CLC) meeting on Wednesday July 7th.
 
We will bring you more information on how the Council will use the financial  contribution for the benefit of older persons in a future CLC newsletter.

The planning application for the Treberth Community Living Scheme has been submitted to NCC Planning Department and we hope to receive planning approval soon.

The residents living opposite the land where the scheme is to be built have been experiencing some of anti social behaviour in the form of trespass, nuisance, harassment and criminal damage to property and belongings. The Bishpool & Treberth residents are keen to see this site re developed as soon as possible!
