Community Living Scheme plans approved!

Planning permission for the Community Living Scheme in Treberth was refused earlier this year. However, on 12th August the plans were approved for the 58 self contained apartments to go-ahead.

Phil Toms, Chief Executive of Newport Housing Trust said The Trust worked hard with Council Officers to resolve the issues which lead to the plans being refused originally.

"We believe that the scheme we be better, and we have come up with something that will add to the community considerably," he said. "We are very much looking forward to going ahead and being able to offer this very special accommodation to people over 60 who desperately need it."

Buyers will purchase the apartments in an equity share scheme of 80% of the apartment price.

The apartments are designed so residents can stay as they get older. In addition, the development will have facilities that can be used by the community, including a restaurant, gym and village hall.

Further information about how to purchase an apartment can be found in the Community Living page on our website or telephone 0800 328 5508.
