NHT Improves Service to Tenants

With effect from 1st April, Newport Housing Trust has brought management of the maintenance function in-house. For the past nine years, the management of the maintenance for Newport Housing Trust properties has been out-sourced. Following consultation with tenants and a review of the Housing Management and Maintenance function, Newport Housing Trust decided it was time to move forward and bring the management of their maintenance in-house. This will enable closer contact with the contractors overall resulting in providing a better service for their tenants. Victor Williams and Anne Maisey two tenants of Newport Housing Trust were invited to be on the interviewing panel when procuring new contractors.

Anne, 65, commented: “I felt privileged to be involved in this process and to understand what was going on. I loved meeting new people and it brought back happy memories for me as my husband was in the construction industry. I would definitely like to get more involved in future Trust activities.”

Victor, 80, commented: “I was surprised to be asked however was pleased to accept this invite. I was impressed by the high standards of the Trust officers and the contractors. I think the Trust have made an excellent choice.” Since the interviews, Victor and Ann have also been involved in developing service standards for the Trust. Monmouthshire Housing Association successfully won the tender to deliver the maintenance and repairs service across all five estates. An official signing of the contract will take place between Newport Housing Trust and Monmouthshire Housing Association later this month.
