Newport Housing Trust has recently agreed a three year contract to provide Asset Management services to Aelwyd Housing Association.

Newport Housing Trust’s vision is to be a key provider of innovative housing related services for the over 60s.

Aelwyd Housing Association are a charitable organisation, with a Christian ethos, managing over 240 properties housed in schemes located across South Wales. The tenants of Aelwyd are predominantly over the age of 55.

Aelwyd and Newport Housing Trust have mutual objectives, both being specialists in providing housing for older people. This service provision will allow them to increase efficiency and to provide continuous service improvement.

Phil Toms, Chief Executive of Newport Housing Trust Ltd said:

“Aelwyd HA and Newport Housing Trust share similar values in seeking to provide the best possible services appropriate to our client group, that of older people in Wales. We consider there will be mutual benefits going forward in the provision of selected maintenance services.”

In addition to the core disciplines, Newport Housing Trust and Alewyd are working towards securing grant funding for energy efficiency works, which will contribute towards new and improved central heating systems for tenants.

This service provision is a first for Newport Housing Trust and having brought the management of maintenance in-house, it provides the Trust with an opportunity to further develop best practice in the provision of services to both the Trust and Aelwyd’s client group.
